PHOTOGRAPHING MY FIRST DESTINATION WEDDING in Cancun, Mexico was an absolute dream. There are some moments in life that feel too good to be true—this experience was one of them. To make it even sweeter, I got to share the experience with my best friend, Hannah (@hannah.thomas.ugc), who came along as my second shooter. Hannah and I have always shared a deep love for the beach. There’s something about being near the water that instantly grounds us. To carry our passion for content creation and wedding photography to our happy place was a dream come true. Our college selves would be so proud!

HANNAH AND I GOT TO WORK AND RELAX TOGETHER ALL WEEKEND LONG

SAM & EMILY

Every wedding is special, but there’s something truly meaningful about 70-something loved ones traveling from near and far to celebrate—not just for a day, but for an entire weekend. It says so much about the kind of people my couple, Emily and Sam, are: warm, loyal, deeply loved, and surrounded by friends and family who would go the distance for them. From dancing in the bridal suite to partying on the dance floor, the energy on wedding day was magical.

March 7, 2025

Witnessing and capturing E & S say "I do" with the Gulf of Mexico (or America? idk) as their backdrop was so surreal. There were tender smiles on each of the guests faces and a gentle ocean breeze as Emily and her Dad made their way down the aisle. Thankfully, we didn't lose the veil to the breezy beach day! Also, the hot pink florals...a dream! This won't be the last time you see them. Their intimate, tear-jerking vows (no joke—my watery eyes couldn’t see through my camera for a second) was definitely a favorite part of the day for everyone! I ALWAYS recommend writing your own vows. Something truly supernatural happens when all your favorite people witness a bride and groom vowing forever to each other.

Did I get to cocktail hour? Sure didn't! But while I was photographing bride and groom portraits, Hannah ran over to the reception space to capture some insanely gorgeous decor and detail photos as well as guests at cocktail hour. Each table was covered with the most breathtaking floral arrangements, stunning navy blue goblets, and freshly lit candlesticks. I had hot pink on my vision board for 2025 so the year is off to a good start! The "Moser" boozy popsicle cart and the personalized coconut cocktails were a guest favorite at cocktail hour.

Some more of my favorite moments from Emily and Sam’s day? Their lively intro as Mr. and Mrs. Moser, a hilarious game of dance floor limbo that brought out everyone’s competitive side, and Sam’s mom absolutely stealing the show with her fun energy!

On top of all that, getting to work alongside such a warm and supportive vendor team made the day even more special—huge shoutout to @dosanddyebyjulie and @emmcnultymakeup for being absolute gems! As someone who feels best with a fresh tan, one goal of mine in editing "true to color" is to not wash out the bride's spray tan or makeup look. Far too often I see edits completely wash out a bride's look, and I find it irritating because if that were me, I wouldn't be happy. If you are a bride and prefer the bright and airy look, I totally understand why and know absolutely incredible photographers who can deliver on that! Just make sure their work reflects natural skin tones if that is important to you! Anyways, I digress. Enjoy more portraits below from this incredible day in paradise. Xo, Jess.
